John McCain’s VP Pick A Woman & First Week of Nursing School Over!

Hey Everyone,

A lot has happened this week not only in my life but in the world. My first week of nursing school is over! Only 12 more weeks to go into the semester then I am in my last semester.  Very excited! The first week back was good and not as stressful as I thought it would be. I start my clinicals next week and can’t wait for that. For my care of older adults clinical, I get to do some rotations in home health (which is probably what I am going to go into after a year of working at a hospital) & I have to put on a health fair for the community…me and my partner that is. I am really excited about that too. I love health fairs and teaching people things.  I will keep you updated on how my clinicals are going.

Yesterday, I had to go to one of the clinical sites and get a parking pass because they are highly strict on parking and will give you ticket. So I went thinking all I would have to do is turn in my registration form for my parking pass and show some ID and then I would be on my merry way. Well….turns out that they have to finger print you, take your picture, and ask you all of these questions. It was really strict. Also, I had a problem with the finger printing part lol. I think the office was thinking “Man if this woman can’t give finger prints right….I would hate to see her working in a hospital.” I swear I had to redo them a hundred times…good thing there wasn’t a line :-D.

I have a nice long weekend because we don’t have school on Monday…it’s Labor Day. So I will be enjoying that one. Well…if you have been paying attention to the news I suppose you have already heard who John McCain’s vice presidental pick is! It is Sarah Palin a woman! I am so excited. I can’t believe he picked a woman as his running mate. I really didn’t see that coming. When my husband told me over phone who he picked I thought he was lying. I just hope it was a good choice and only time will tell when the election comes up. Here is what she looks like:

Could this be our new vice president?

I am glad he picked her because it adds a new challenge in the race. I have to say this has been the most interesting presidential race in history. We have two people I thought that would never be in the running for president and vice president. A woman and an African American! I LOVE it. I am glad the US has finally put some of it racism & sexism behind them. I wasn’t going to vote at first because I didn’t know which candidate I would pick but now after doing some research I am going to re-register and vote!

After reading about Governor Palin, I LOVE what she stands for and her work as Alaska’s governor has been great. Yeah, she might be lacking some experience (just like Obama) BUT she has John McCain’s experience to balance it out. I just hope she can show the world who she is and win them over because a lot people are not feeling his pick. Some think is was a risky move and others think it is brilliant!

Until next time……..

Sarah ;-)

How Long Will You Live? When will you die?-Class Assignment

Hey Everyone,

I hope everyone’s week is going good and smoothly. Here we are getting a LOT of rain off of that Tropical Storm Faye that hit Florida last week. It has rained the whole day today and yesterday. It is just very cloudy and depressing looking outside. However, we do need the rain since we are in a drought. Walking to class has been fun….if you like wet shoes, soaking wet jeans, and a soggy backpack that is. Plus you have to carry around an umbrella and tote the dripping wet thing in class with you. Rain + school= no fun.

I have a class assignment due on Friday for my care of older adults class. We had to visit this website and answer several questions and it was suppose to tell us based on the questions how long we are suppose to live. It is suppose to be one of the best on the internet. After answering all of the questions, my age to live to is 96. WOW that is pretty old! Some of my friends got 91 and 88. I had Ben to take it and it said that he would live until 85. I told him I better pick up some bad habits so I can shave about 11 years off my life so we can die at the same time LOL.

Here is a link to the site, take it and see how long you will live and tell me what you got. I love to know stuff like that lol. Remember I am a nursing student!! Click here for the “WHEN YOU WILL DIE PREDICTOR”.

Today I had my dosage and calculation test and guess what…I passed it YAH!! It wasn’t hard at all! It was basically the practice test that they gave us to study. Also, I got to meet my clinical instructor for my care of adults clinical site. I really like her and she seems really great! I will have clinicals on Tuesday from 6:30am-4:00pm. We will be pulling a big 10 hours! Shew I am going to pass out when I get home because the day before that I have class pretty much all day long.

Tomorrow I am off YAH \o/ I think I will be having every Wednesday off so that is good. Gives me some catch-up time.

Until next time………….
