Hey Everyone,

I have got to say this week was an exhausting week. I have been wanting to make a post all week but when I come home I either have to study or pass out and sleep. Monday I had my test for my care of adults class and guess what I made LOL….102 (there were bonus points)!! Yes 102, I couldn’t believe it! Lets just say I am very happy about that grade! Then later that day my friend and I had to go do our project about the homeless. We spent about 3 hours downtown. I had a blast with her!! We rode the bus around downtown(I have never done that before), went to almost every resource for homeless people, got some interviews done, and took lots of pictures. I think we walked about 3 miles that day.

Then Tuesday I had clinicals from 630 am-400 pm. I got to work on my favorite floor which is a step down unit where there are fresh heart cath pts. Oh yeah…did I tell you I have finally figured out what field of nursing I going in right after I graduate? Yeah you guessed it the step down unit for cardiac pts. I was talking with the clinical manager of the floor and she told me when I graduated to talk to her and she would love to have me work there. I was really confused on deciding what I wanted to do in nursing but after being on that floor I think I have found my niche. I fell in love with it. Plus I got to start my first IV that day too. I got it in the first try and no blow outs The guy had wonderful veins! The nurse I was with was excellent and was a great teacher! Oh yeah….I also got to give a suppository. I was glad to get that in because it is different doing it on a real person. It’s actually was really easy to do!

Wednesday was my day off but I had a terrible careplan to do. I worked all day on it and then I had to submit an outline on my presentation for next week. So I was very busy the whole day. Oh yeah if you need help doing your nursing careplans and want to save some time my friend gave me this awesome website to help you do your careplans. It is great. Thursday I had clinicals again from 700 am- 130 pm. It was a good day. I really like my instructor for that clinical. Then Friday I had class from 815 am- 1115pm and it was very very boring! However, during the last 15 minutes of class a woman came by and talked to us about signing up for our Senior Practicum Management clinical. That is the last clinical we have to take and it is in our last semester of nursing school which starts in January. I can taste victory!! We are suppose to give her our top 2 choices and where we want to go and we will know about the beginning of November where we will be put. I am just crossing my fingers I get a close hospital and get on the cardiac step down unit.

I have test next Friday that I fixing to get off here and study for! Wish me luck everyone! I am hoping for a 100 again LOL yeah right….

Hey Everyone,

I hope everyone’s weekend is going great! My weekend has been going pretty good. Today was my Mom’s Birthday. I went earlier today and we had lunch together at a Chinese place…which was tasty. Then I took my sister to work for my mom so she didn’t have to and came home. I think she had a good day. She really liked her gifts I got her. Let’s see…I got her a wishing well and a bamboo plant. I actually made the wishing well myself (with the help of Ben) this summer. I had seen that over the summer her last wishing well had bit the dust so I figured that would be a great idea for a birthday gift. She was really surprised and was tickled that I got it for her. Lecture class on Friday was partly boring and extremely sad (most of the class left in tears). The lecture was on dementia and alzheimer’s disease. I actually could barely sit through the whole lecture because it was so boring but I thought I would stay because the roll hadn’t been past around yet and I wanted my attendance points. Well I am glad I stayed because I learned more about alzheimer’s at the end of class then through the whole the lecture when our teacher showed us a video. It was a documentary about a woman named Grace who got alzheimer’s disease and it showed how she progressed through the whole 10 years with the disease. Her husband stayed by her side the whole time through it. He was so patient with her and you could tell he loved her so much. What got everyone crying (even me) was that at the end of the video they were interviewing him and he said that even though his wife is there with him (she can’t even talk at this point) that he feels like he has lost his mate/companion. Then it showed pictures when they were younger and just married. Sheew….it was so freaking sad. By me telling you this it doesn’t give off just how sad it was. That disease is just so crippling and devasting.  Here is a part of the documentary. It’s a down and dirty part of it. Watch it…it’s good. What are your thoughts on it?

Everyone wish me luck on my test Monday. I have been studying for it and don’t think it will be too bad but you know how it can be sometimes. I hope everyone has a splendid weekend!!
